On October 11, 2007, EEOC announced that it had formed an Asian American and Pacific Islander Work Group that will examine this community’s concerns about federal sector employment, special emphasis programs and the complaint process. It has been reported that of the 2.6 million employees in the federal sector, EEOC data indicates only 5.9 percent of them are Asian Americans. A congressional audit released in May reports that relatively few Asian Americans make it to the highest ranks of government – 146 out of 6,349 career members of the Senior Executive Service.
