The EEOC Inspector General recently issued a new report (“Semiannual Report to Congress”) that raises some questions about the ability of the EEOC to fulfill its mission. Among the areas of concern noted, the report indicated that a reduced workforce and an increasing backlog of pending cases is creating serious challenges to the EEOC in accomplishing its mission of promoting equality of opportunity in the workforce and enforcing Federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.
