The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that Blacks and Hispanics disproportionately suffer from serious labor market problems despite gains in average educational attainment and increased representation in higher-paying occupations among those groups. The report, “Labor Force Characteristics by Race and Ethnicity, 2007 (Report 1005),” was released October 8, 2008, It also contains data on labor market impacts on Blacks and Hispanics with respect to employment, education, occupation and industry, families and mothers, unemployment, and earnings.
