EEOC submitted an update to the court on the 2017 & 2018 EEO-1 Component 2 data collection, as required to do every 21 days. As of January 3, 2020, 86% of eligible filers have completed submission of Component 2 data, with 85.3% submitting for 2017 and 86.6% submitting for 2018.
As noted in a previous blog, EEOC submitted a motion on December 19, 2019 to request closure of the 2017 and 2018 filing portal. Plaintiffs submitted a response January 2, 2020 opposing EEOC’s request, noting that collection should continue through at least January 31, 2020. The portal remains open for 2017-2018 data collection, at least for now.
NORC has continued to complete outreach and technical assistance on behalf of EEOC in the following ways: (1) staff the Component 2 HelpDesk for extended hours and (2) place calls to the 2,600 employers that completed a filing for either 2017 or 2018, but not both. Additionally, NORC began contacting approximately 750 employers needing upload assistance. EEOC also continues to receive, and review, requests for exemption from a small number of employers. NORC will continue to provide technical assistance, and targeted outreach to non-filers, over the next 21 days.
