The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has officially opened the 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection portal as of today, May 20, 2025. All private-sector employers with 100 or more employees are now able to file their annual workforce demographic reports through EEOC’s dedicated portal.
As DCI previously reported, the filing deadline is June 24, 2025, and organizations are encouraged to submit their reports as early as possible to avoid last-minute technical issues or compliance risks.
In addition to the instruction booklet, EEOC has posted several new resources including FAQs, fact sheets, file specifications, and more. DCI is currently reviewing these materials and will provide a summary and key takeaways soon. Of note, materials continue to reference the now rescinded Executive Order 11246 and related regulations, which appears to be an oversight.
One notable and unexpected aspect of the portal's launch is a message from Acting Chair Andrea Lucas featured on the homepage. The statement references recent executive orders from the Trump administration related to discrimination, diversity, and disparate impact.
Action Items for Employers
- Access the portal: Employers can sign in to the EEO-1 Online Filing System (OFS) using last year’s information but may need to update their password. EEOC has provided an OFS User Guide.
- Review employee data: Ensure demographic and employment data are current and compliant with the new binary gender reporting structure.
- As a reminder, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved EEOC's request to remove the option for employers to report non-binary status for employees on May 12, 2025.
- File before June 24, 2025: Per EEOC, the deadline is firm. EEOC has reported they will not provide a “failure to file” period like previous years. Employers should not expect an extension.
DCI will continue to monitor developments and share further insights as they become available. For more information, download DCI’s Step-By-Step Guide to Filing EEO-1s in 2025.
