Now that the new year is in full swing, we hope that your company is planning for, or already working on, your 2017 EEO-1 report filing. As previously reported, EEO-1 reports will now be filed in quarter 1 of each year, but the reports are based on a snapshot from October through December of the prior year. As a reminder, the report format will be the same as in prior years, as the requirement to report W-2 pay data in addition to employee counts was suspended indefinitely.
Below are updates and/or reminders to assist with your 2017 report filing:
If you’re a Federal contractor. . .
It’s not too early to start thinking about your 2018 VETS-4212 filing. As you may or may not realize, if you are filing your 2017 EEO-1 report using a 12/31/2017 snapshot date, you may also use this data for your 2018 VETS report. VETS has explained that all federal contractors may pull a single data snapshot as of December 31 each year for both the EEO-1 report filed in quarter 1 of a year, as well as the VETS report to be filed in quarter 3 of that same year. For example, a contractor may use a December 31, 2017 snapshot for their current EEO-1 filing, as well as their VETS reports that will be submitted by September 30, 2018. This is not a requirement for contractors, however it has obvious advantages for efficiencies on both the data pull and clean-up or formatting for submissions. If you do choose to take advantage of this regulatory provision, DCI encourages you to plan ahead by including veteran status in your EEO-1 roster data pull – this will save you time come August!
