President Bush has proclaimed September 15 through October 15, 2007 as National Hispanic Heritage Month in recognition of the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the “spirit of America” and the many ways they have enriched the nation.
The proclamation recognizes how Hispanic Americans’ “hard work, love of country, and deep commitment to faith and family have shaped the character of our country and helped preserve the values we all cherish.” President Bush also recognized the contribution of Hispanic Americans in serving in the Armed Forces, and as volunteers to help their fellow Americans in their towns and communities.
