A Dallas/Fort Worth-based restaurant chain will pay $1 million and furnish significant remedial relief to settle a sex bias lawsuit filed by the EEOC. The lawsuit alleged the restaurant discriminated against a class of male applicants and employees by refusing to hire or promote them to bartender positions. Male applicants and servers had been expected to testify at trial that managers told them the restaurant wanted mostly “girls” behind the bar. The few men who were promoted were not allowed to work lucrative “girls-only” bartending events.
