EEO-1 Pay Component 2: Where Are We Now?

Now that the deadline for Component 1 of the EEO-1 Survey has passed (hopefully with successful filings for all), EEOC is looking ahead to the process of Component 2 pay data collection. EEOC is partnering with NORC at the University of Chicago, a “non-partisan and objective research organization,” for the project.

Due to the judge’s ruling that EEOC provide status updates every three weeks, EEOC & NORC have been preparing for the data collection through the establishment of a help desk, hiring staff for the help desk, and preparing training for filers. They hope to have the help desk active as of June 17, 2019.

Because both 2017 and 2018 pay data will be collected for this component, NORC is also involved in developing data specifications for the submission later this year. The EEOC expects to release an update on how this data will be collected and contact information for the help desk on June 3rd.

As of this May 24th ruling, the EEOC expects to have the Component 2 data collection tool/site/system open from July 15th to September 30th 2019. Based on this ruling, it seems the closing date of Component 2 is subject to “the response rates for EEO-1 data submitted over the last four years” to determine if the form will actually be closed on September 30th 2019.
