OFCCP Sends Final Rule Implementing “Jobs for Veterans” for Review

by Patricia A. Schaeffer, Vice President-Regulatory Affairs

UPDATE: OMB completed its review of the rule on August 1, 2007. The final rule was published in the Federal Register on August 8, 2007.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is currently reviewing OFCCP’s proposed final rule implementing the amendments to the affirmative action provisions of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA) that were made by the Jobs for Veterans Act (JVA) enacted in 2002. This means the final rule is one step closer to being published in the Federal Register.

Federal contractors have been anxiously waiting the release of the final rule because JVA amendments have modified contractors’ mandatory job-listing requirements.

According to OMB’s website, final action on the rule is expected in June.
